FAQ
WHEN YOU SAY SIZE SPECIFIC TOP SECTION, WHAT DO YOU MEAN?
When looking to bring a higher level gravel handlebar to market, we were seeking a way to provide riders with more comfort and improved positioning while on the bike. We started with a flattened top section for those that might potentially rest their arms on the bars, but also realized that as we ride long distances, we use the tops for a lot of situations. Providing graded sizing for this area, we graduate from a smaller size on the 40cm width, slowly to a larger size for 46.
WHY DO 44 AND 46 SHARE THE SAME DIAMETER FOR THE ERGONOMIC SECTION?
In reviewing with athletes and test riders, the 44 and 46 tend to be a selection made by similarly sized riders for hand sizing albeit wider shoulders. Additionally, some riders in the 46 category are only selecting these widest bars for bag fitment, or extreme adventure riding, so we didn’t want to oversize this top section. The length of the ergonomic section changes between the 44 and 46 to provide more coverage, and is not simply a width extension at the clamping area.
WHAT ASPECTS OF THE EC90 SLX AND EC90 AERO ARE IN THE BAR?
We took our weight targets and initial shaping for the bars from the EC90 SLX, a bar raced, abused and approved by our elite cyclocross racers and road racers alike. We also took cues on the larger top section from riders who appreciate the wide area on our EC90 Aero bars for varied hand and arm positions while riding. Merging these ideas and adapting for rider fitment came from testing and feedback with our elite gravel athletes as well as multidisciplinary test riders.
DO YOU HAVE INTERNAL ROUTING?
With Di2 we are compatible with bar-end junctions by carrying a cable through both ends of the bar. We continue to provide recessed shaping for hydraulic lines and mechanical, which are far easier to install for the home mechanic.
