Meet Our Brand Manager, Matt Hornland

Matt has the privilege and challenge of meeting the needs of Easton Cycling customers, athletes and supported events through campaigns, support and outreach.

While Matt hasn’t always found himself on the brand-end of marketing, he has been engaged in the community of cycling, especially that of event organization, for over a decade.

The longest standing project to date is the Vancouver Cyclocross Coalition, founded in 2013, that runs a series of cyclocross races in and around Vancouver, BC, Canada. The series has allowed him to develop deep roots in the local cyclocross community, and it’s experiences such as these which help shape an understanding of the importance that connections, shared experiences and advocacy can have on a cycling community.

As the Team Manager, DS and part time mechanic for the Easton Overland team, Matt is on the road quite often, engaged in the greater community of gravel and road racing. Shared suffering, as it were. And while gravel has become an excellent conduit for people to learn something new about cycling, Matt stays dedicated to the cyclocross and crit scene for his own sanity – racing locally for Mighty Cycling and holding the Provincial Masters Cyclocross Championship jersey for 2018.

“Finding opportunities to share stories and develop relationships is a key part of why cycling is important to me. It’s this incredible sport where people of all ages, types, abilities can come together and learn and grow. Have fun, don’t be a jerk and everyone can have a good experience, even when the riding gets hard.”
