Easton at Home: Lucas talks Spectating and Cocktails
Lucas Strain, one of our road, CX and gravel athletes, and painter for Allied Cycle Works and Speedvagen, takes us through some of his favorite races you can view while on the trainer, or pair up with a drink and enjoy before you watch the entirety of Netflix again!⠀
Hello, my name is Lucas Strain and tonight we’re going to talk about inspiring bike racing and cocktails. My favorite part of cross racing is definitely riding downhill in the mud on my bicycle. I don't like the running at all.
I picked the Hot Toddy because it’s a warm liquor drink, partially tea and partially whiskey. Today we’re going to add a little cayenne pepper and honey to it because it’s better when it’s sweet and spicy. I picked it because in Nommay, the world cup cross race that we’re going to watch tonight, is muddy and cold and terrible and this is what I would want at the finish line if I was racing it.
Lucas’ Hot Toddy Recipe
- ½ cup of hot tea – I picked ginger cuz I like ginger but you can do whatever you want
- Add about a shot of whiskey (I’m being super precise tonight)
- A dash of cayenne for spice
- A tablespoon of honey (though you can go more or less if you want cuz you’re making your own drink)
Cheers to bike racing and cocktails!
